Gargantuan Ancient Black Dragon Miniature | Wings Spread Rearing Pose | By DM Stash

The skies shift. The earth trembles. And from the cliffs, it watches — older than kingdoms, hungrier than flame.

This is not a creature that hunts. It presides. The Ancient Black Dragon rises in a commanding reared stance, its vast bat-like wings unfurled to their full terrible span, membrane stretched taut between wickedly curved bone spurs. Dorsal spines ridge the length of its spine like shattered battlements, and its muscular torso coils with layered scale plates that speak of centuries of war survived. The horned head crests forward — proud, predatory, and utterly sovereign. Every claw, every ridge, every texture tells a story of dominance carved in acid and ash. Beneath its haunches, the base erupts in shattered rock and ancient rubble, as though the earth itself buckled under its weight when it landed. Rendered at 32mm scale, this gargantuan centrepiece commands every inch of a table.

For Dungeon Masters, this is the final encounter your players will talk about for years. Drop it at the heart of a corrupted swamp lair, at the peak of a blackened volcanic ruin, or looming over the remnants of a city it has already razed. For collectors, this is a trophy piece — an anchor for any fantasy display shelf that demands presence. Compatible with D&D 5e, Pathfinder 2e, and any system that needs a creature that stops the room.

- The party finally reaches the inner sanctum of the Mere of Dead Men — the dragon has been watching them since the second session, and it has been waiting.
- A corrupt noble has been making tribute payments for decades — your players discover the ledger, and now they understand what they've been hired to stop.
- The dragon is not the final boss — it is the gatekeeper. Whatever it guards is worse. The players must either bargain, flee, or fight their way past.
- Mid-battle, it takes to the air — use this miniature elevated on a flying stand to signal the encounter has shifted entirely.
