Eastern Fallow Deer Mini | Resting Stag and Doe Model | 32mm Resin Wildlife Display | By Animal Den

There is a stillness in the moment they meet — the doe leaning gently forward, the stag at rest, broad palmate antlers rising like bare winter branches above him. It is a scene of quiet tenderness pulled straight from the woodland edge, where fallow deer move like shadows through dappled light.

This Eastern Fallow Deer set from Animal Den features two beautifully observed poses: a standing doe with her neck extended in a soft nuzzle toward a resting stag lying with legs tucked beneath him. The stag carries an impressive rack of palmate antlers with fine tine detail that will reward a careful painter enormously. Both figures display excellent surface texture across the body — short, layered fur rendered with enough grain to hold a wash beautifully and respond to drybrushing with real depth. The musculature across the shoulders and haunches is anatomically convincing without being overworked, giving the models a naturalistic, lifelike quality that sets them apart as genuine display pieces.

These models are made for painters who love animals, collectors building woodland or nature-themed displays, and anyone looking for a standout gift for a wildlife enthusiast or nature lover. Together they form a complete scene — the pair works as a diorama centrepiece or as two individual display models on separate bases. They are equally at home on a shelf, a mantle, or a painter's desk waiting for their next coat.

For colour, consider a warm tawny base of buff and ochre tones, layered up with stippled lighter spots across the back for the classic fallow deer summer coat. A cooler, greyer palette works beautifully for a winter scene. Wash the antlers with raw umber and drybrush pale bone for a sun-bleached look, or go darker with burnt sienna for a freshly velvet-shed finish. The fur texture on both figures is ideal for layered drybrushing — start dark, work light, and bring the edges alive.
