Insectoid Monster Version Two Mini | Chitinous Apex Predator Miniature | 28mm 32mm 40mm High Detail Resin | By Dungeon Dog

The jungle floor goes silent before it arrives. Not because the creatures flee — but because something older than instinct tells them to stop breathing.

Designed by Dungeon Dog, this insectoid predator is the second evolution of a creature that was already difficult to look away from. Version Two refines every plane and surface into something that feels genuinely alive — and genuinely dangerous. Two angular, blade-tipped forelimbs arc outward like natural weapons honed over millennia. A forward-lunging torso covered in interlocking carapace plates and overlapping scale textures gives the impression of layered biological armour that no sword should reasonably penetrate. The neck is thick, the jaw is open and bristling with recurved fangs, and horn-like dorsal spines crest the skull in a crown that signals dominance rather than decoration. The rear legs are digitigrade — coiled power, ready to surge. Each claw on the feet grips the textured scenic base as though the earth itself is prey.

This is not a minion. This is the thing minions are terrified of.

For dungeon masters, the Version Two build opens up an entirely different profile from its predecessor. Where the first iteration crouched and threatened, this one stands fully extended and confrontational — a creature in the act of deciding whether you are worth killing slowly. Use it as a hive lord, a corrupted aberration unleashed by a reckless wizard, a planar predator that slipped through a weakened rift, or the apex of a dungeon ecosystem that the players have been hearing about since session one. For players, the silhouette is striking enough to serve as a monstrous ranger companion, a cursed druid wildshape form made manifest, or a bound fiend whose leash is dangerously frayed.

The three available scales — 28mm, 32mm, and 40mm — give you control over how dominant this creature feels on your table. At 40mm it towers. At 28mm it still unsettles.

— Drop this onto the table mid-session and watch the table go quiet — the players who were half-listening are now extremely present.
— The party thinks they've cleared the nest — then the chamber wall cracks open and the Version Two steps through, and it's bigger than anything they've catalogued.
— A rival faction has one of these bound in chains at the centre of their camp — do the players try to free it, study it, or run?
— The creature doesn't attack immediately — it circles, tilts its head, and waits — use that pause to let the players feel the weight of what they're about to fight.
